ASU soccer gets two wins in a row on the road with two shoutouts and early goals. They head home for their next game versus Weber State.

ASU soccer went perfect on the last two games of their road trip getting two shutouts and nabbing goals early in each game.

The Sun Devils was on the road against South Dakota State Monday on what was their second road game of year due to matches in Hawaii being cancelled.

They were able to attack early with their first shot of the total eight for the half came in under three minutes.

Freshman midfielder Alexia Delgado broke the tie with a goal in the 21st minute of the game. After that, the Sun Devils controlled possession and was able to see their lead to half with neither team able to get chances that would trouble the goalkeepers.

Sun Devils got their second goal of game when senior midfielder Jemma Purfield found Nicole Douglas in the box who finished it. This goal marked her fourth of the season.

The defense did not let South Dakota State get many chances as senior goalkeeper Sydney Day got a shoutout and her second win of season.

Arizona State then came back to Arizona but headed up to Flagstaff to face Northern Arizona. A game which was played in elevation of 7,000 feet with a full crowd in attendance.

The Sun Devils came out attacking early with a shot from Purfield in the first minute of the game. Four minutes later, freshman forward Marleen Schimmer put one past the keeper after a quick turn to create space for what turned out to be a good finish.

In the first 15 minutes of the game, the Sun Devils came out attacking looking to create chances and force the Lumberjacks to turnover in their own half.

The final 35 minutes of the game was a midfield battle with both teams gaining possession but not creating goal threatening chances. ASU went to the half with a shot lead of 7-3 and hold of the pace of game.

Lumberjacks looked to change pace of game and attack with creating a corner there minutes after second half started. To their demise, the Sun Devils defense was strong winning the ball back early and made the Lumberjacks pass early which led to many turnovers.

Even through the Lumberjacks pressing high, sophomore goalkeeper Nikki Panas kept a clean shot and handled the one shot opportunities that came near here.

The Sun Devils head back home 4-2 on the year with Weber State being their next opponent on Sunday.

Weber State comes off of a 3-2 win against UC Santa Barbara. It brings them to 2-2-3 for the season as they come to Tempe.

Before their victory on Friday night, they have only mustered up two goals in six games.

In their victory against UC Santa Barbara, they controlled possession and created chances that the offense were looking to create.

We will see how they will fare against coach Graham Winkworth since his focus for the team is on having possession and building chances through many passes.

The Sun Devils will face off against Weber State this Sunday with kickoff at 1 pm.
