ASU Football: Who’s the toughest opponents on the schedule?
By Sam Ficarro
9. Colorado Buffaloes
After winning the Pac-12 South two years ago, Colorado came back down to Earth last season finishing 5-7 and missing a bowl game.
The Buffaloes bid farewell to running back Phillip Lindsay, who finished as the school’s all-time leader in all-purpose yards and second on the school’s all-time rushing list, and cornerback Isaiah Oliver, who declared for the NFL Draft.
Wide receiver Bryce Bobo also graduated after completing his Buffaloes career with 693 yards and five touchdowns.
Colorado will have quarterback Steven Montez back for his junior season after throwing 2,975 yards, 18 touchdowns and nine interceptions last season.
Arizona State defeated Colorado 41-30 in Tempe with the Sun Devils outscoring the Buffaloes 24-3 in the fourth quarter.
Manny Wilkins threw for 202 yards and two touchdowns while Demario Richard rushed for 189 yards and one touchdown. N’Keal Harry finished with six catches, 81 yards and one touchdown being matched up against Oliver.
This is another game Arizona State will be favored. The four teams listed so far will play Arizona State in the first six weeks of the season with Michigan State and Washington sandwiched in the middle.
With the second half of the schedule much more difficult, it’s essential the Sun Devils go at least 4-2 to put them in a position to qualify for a postseason game.
