DeNae Chatman’s two-run home run in the sixth inning lifts ASU softball to a Senior Weekend sweep with senior Breanna Macha securing the save.

It was a picture-perfect Senior Weekend for seventh-ranked Arizona State as they completed a three-game sweep of Stanford.

Senior Dale Ryndak got the nod for ASU as she made her eighth start of the season. Sunday’s start was the first outing for Ryndak since April 14 when she pitched against Oregon.

Stanford took an early 2-0 lead with a run scoring on an error in the first inning and center fielder Lauren Frost hitting a solo home run in the second inning.

That would be the only runs allowed on the day by the Sun Devils as Ryndak’s day ended tossing two innings allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits with one strikeout.

G Juarez came on in relief for the Sun Devils with ASU trailing 2-0. The Sun Devils scrapped a run back in the fifth inning on a solo home run from left fielder Skylar McCarty for her third blast of the season.

The big hit came in the sixth inning from designated play DeNae Chatman, who continued her hot streak hitting a go-ahead two-run homer to give the Sun Devils a 3-2 lead.

Juarez did her job throwing 4.2 scoreless innings allowing just four hits as senior Breanna Macha relieved Juarez and recorded the final out earning her first save of the season on Senior Day.

Stanford pitcher Nikki Bauer threw a complete game in a losing effort allowing three earned runs on seven hits with a walk and three strikeouts.
