ASU basketball, coming off of their most lopsided victory in this year’s Pac-12 conference play, look to end on a high note against the Stanford Cardinal.

With only one game left in the Sun Devils’ regular season, it’s time to close on the highest of notes. To this point the Sun Devils have forged a 20-9 record on the year with an impressive amount of road and neutral site victories.

ASU simply toyed with Cal Thursday, putting themselves in position to end the season on a high note.  Against the Stanford Cardinal Saturday, however, the Sun Devils must once again prove themselves if they’re to be taken seriously in post season play.

In the first matchup between ASU and Stanford, the Cardinal were able to dominate all facets of the game en route to an impressive 86-77 win. Stanford had five player score in double-digits and out-rebounded ASU 44-30.

Stanford started off the season slowly but finished in glorious fashion. During non-conference play the Cardinal sat at a below-expectations record of 6-7, but in Pac-12 play Stanford turned a corner.

Stanford is sitting at 10-7 in conference play and hope to win against ASU in Tempe to close the season.

Coming off his first double-double since Feb. 1st against Washington, Romello White looks ready for the challenge this time. White got off to a hot start against the Bears and finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds in the blowout.

The rest of the Sun Devils got back to playing the style of pace-and-space they showed in non-conference play and it should bode well for them Saturday.

Key contributors against the Cardinal will, as always, be Shannon Evans II and Tra Holder. The backcourt duo must dictate the pace of this game on offense, and lead the charge on defense.

With a win, ASU would salvage an 8-8 record in conference play and a 21-9 record for the season.

With post-season play less than a week away, it will be vital for ASU to continue building good habits and gather some momentum against the Cardinal.
