ASU softball bounced back after splitting Thursday’s doubleheader as the Sun Devils defeated LIU Brooklyn 9-5 on day two of the Mary Nutter Classic.

After a tough loss to the defending champs, Arizona State took care of things quickly against LIU Brooklyn and improve their record to 11-2. The Sun Devils scored early and often with nine runs in the first four innings. This was a huge improvement from Arizona State’s game against Oklahoma yesterday when the Sun Devils only had three hits.

The Hackbarth twins shined once again racking up a total of four RBIs. Kindra lined one up the middle in the second inning to score Marisa Stankiewicz. Maddi added another three RBIs for the season with a deep home run in the fourth.

Shortstop Jade Gortarez and third baseman Bella Loomis also stepped up with two RBIs apiece. Gortarez had two RBIs in the second while Loomis sent one home in the second and one in the third.

Senior Dale Ryndak earned her third of the season. The senior pitched six innings with two strikeouts. Even though Ryndak gave up 10 hits, only one of her five runs were earned due to the four errors that the Sun Devils had on the field.

Senior Breanna Macha came in for ASU to finish things off in the seventh. Macha struck out two of the three batters she faced and sealed things off for Arizona State.
