ASU Women’s Basketball: Sun Devils host Colgate in second game of back-to-back

After scoring 106 points against Sacramento State, ASU women’s basketball hosts Colgate in the final game before playing in the Cancun Challenge.
ASU women’s basketball play their fourth game in eight days Sunday when they host the Colgate Raiders.
Arizona State is coming off a 106-58 win over Sacramento State in which six Sun Devils score din double figures. It was the first time ASU has scored over 100 points since December 2005 when they defeated Memphis 103-57.
Guard Sabrina Haines led the Sun devils with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting with forward Sophia Elenga and guard Robbi Ryan providing strong performances off the bench.
Elenga finished with 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting and six rebounds with Ryan tallying 14 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Arizona State shot 55 percent from the field despite some early struggled dealing with Sacramento State’s full-court pressure defense.
The Sun Devils really took over in second half as the Sun Devils shot 19-of-30 from the field while limiting the Hornets to 13-of-39 shooting.
ASU capitalized off a bunch of Sacramento State turnovers as the Hornets turned the ball over 21 times resulting in 24 points for Arizona State.
Arizona State stole the ball 16 times with guard Kiara Russell leading the with four and forwards Elenga and Courtney Ekmark finishing with three steals.
Sunday’s opponent for Arizona State is Colgate, who hold a 2-1 record with their most recent game a 74-70 win over Cornell.
Colgate was picked to finish eighth in the Patriot League, but are coming off its best regular season finish (sixth) since the conference expanded to 10 teams before the 2013-14 season.
Forward Summer King is the Raiders’ top player as the junior leads the team in points and rebounds averaging 15 points per game and nine rebounds per game.
King has two double-doubles in the her first three games of the season tallying 15 points and 12 rebounds against Canisius and 21 points and 10 rebounds against Yale.
Head coach Charli Turner Thorne expects to a similar game as Saturday’s as the Raiders are a perimeter-oriented team.
Arizona State looks to start the season 4-0 for the first time since the 2014-15 season with a win Sunday.
