7. Stanford Cardinal

After the roller coaster that was the Johnny Dawkins era, head coach Jerod Haase is looking to refine Cardinal basketball by establishing a level of consistency.

A season ago, the Cardinal failed to get any sort of consistency going. They finished ninth in the conference with a 14-17 record and were eliminated in the opening round of the Pac-12 Tournament.

This year, the Cardinal return their two leading scorers in Reid Travis and Dorian Pickens. Travis is the leading returning scorer in the Pac-12 after putting up over 17 points per game while Pickens shot nearly 40 percent from deep in 2016.

Haase now adds four four-star recruits to his roster, including Kezie Okpala and guard Daejon Davis. This season, the Cardinal will look to spread the floor and give the younger players more opportunity.

It’s going to take time for Haase to fully develop Stanford. Look for the Cardinal to have a similar season to last year.
