ASU swimming takes on two California powerhouse teams this weekend as the team takes on USC and the women’s team against UCLA on Saturday.

ASU swimming heads into another week of home meets as the team takes on USC and UCLA.

So far, the Sun Devils are 2-0 in their regular season defeating both the men’s and women’s teams of Utah and FSU last weekend.

Some of the most surprising performances from last week’s home openers came from the newest members of the Sun Devil family.

Freshman Evan Carlson came out like a rocket in Friday’s meet against Utah by out touching sophomore Cameron Craig in the 50 freestyle.

Caitlyn Wilson from Tigard, Oregon executed a great performance in her first meets at ASU winning multiple heats and scoring high points for the Sun Devils.

The Sun Devils face a challenge this Friday as they take on USC.

The CSCAA Top 25 Poll ranked the USC women’s team as fourth with the men’s team falling shortly under the women’s with a ranking of 10th.

ASU coach Bob Bowman said that he was pleased with the women’s hustle against a ranked Florida State team.

Even though the Sun Devils were able to conquer FSU, the women’s team will need to execute great endurance against USC.

Sixteen swimmers represented USC in the 2016 Rio Olympic games. Competing against a fast team like USC places ASU in a position where starts and turns are critical.

Bowman stated last week that both the men’s and women’s team needed to work on the fundamentals.

ASU has the chance to advance over the powerhouse USC team with clean starts and finishes.

The ASU women’s team is thrown a curveball on Saturday as they take on UCLA, who received votes in the CSCAA Preseason Poll, but did not crack the top-25.

Arizona State women’s team has a strong chance of defeating UCLA, but their endurance and performance will determine their outcome.
