ASU swimming added another win to their season list Saturday afternoon as they defeated Florida State 328.5-271.5 to improve to 2-0 this season.
Show stopping Utah on Friday night, the Sun Devils continued to execute their endurance in the pool against FSU.
ASU’s top performances of the day came from the newest members of the team as well as the women’s team.
Starting the meet off strong, freshman Emma Nordin raced hard against FSU junior Shelly Drozda.
Nordin fell behind Drozda during the third 50 of the 200 freestyle, but came back quick out touching Drozda for first.
Nordin finished with a time of 1:51.12 scoring nine points for the Sun Devils.

The women’s team continued their strong performance throughout the meet, especially in the women’s 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle.
Freshman Caitlyn Wilson began the race further behind the pack in lane four; however, her endurance kicked in the final 12-yards of the pool gaining another win for the Sun Devils.
Head ASU swim coach Bob Bowman was proud of the women’s performance, specifically after such a quick turnaround.
“We raced hard and FSU is a very good team. That’s the first ranked women’s team we’ve beaten so it’s kind of a special moment for us,” Bowman said.
Both the men’s and women’s team had a sweep of Sun Devils in the 500 freestyle both placing first, second, and third
Nordin took the top spot in the 500 free with a time of 4:56.28. Freshman Erica Laning finished in second, followed by Wilson in third.
Sophomore Benjamin Olszewski took first place for the Sun Devils in the 500 freestyle finishing with a time of 4:32.13.
Freshman Dylan Boyd came behind Olszewski in second, and sophomore Sidney Kao in third.
Having a strong performance in the distant events, Bowman said that it’s lots of good old fashioned work that gives the Sun Devils such strength
“I’m very proud that we went one, two, three in the 500. That’s probably what won the meet for us,” Bowman said. “I felt like when we needed to step up we did, but we still have a lot of things that we need to improve on.”
