ASU Volleyball: Devils lose to Oregon; still winless in conference

ASU volleyball once again lost tonight against 15th-ranked Oregon, and the Sun Devils did not win a set.
After dropping the first match of the team’s road trip on Thursday, the ASU Volleyball team once again lost tonight, this time at the hands of the Oregon Ducks. The match was a sweep, winning in straight sets 25-20, 25-21 and 25-14.
In the first game, the Sun Devils started from behind, as the Ducks got off to a quick 9-5 start. ASU eventually trimmed the Oregon lead to one, making the score 18-17, but Oregon eventually took the set, 25-20.
The second set was similar to the first with the fact that the Ducks got off to a strong start, as Oregon led 10-3.

Eventually, ASU inched back into the set, but it was not enough, and Oregon won the set 25-21.
Finally, Oregon once again got off to a quick start in set three, starting on a 10-6 run. The Ducks finished off the Sun Devils in the third set, 25-14, completing the sweep of Arizona State.
The Sun Devils once again played an inefficient game, hitting for a percentage of .165 and committing 19 errors.
ASU’s defense also struggled, shown by Oregon’s seven service aces. Oregon’s defense, on the other hand, played well, for the Ducks recorded 11 blocks.
Head coach Sanja Tomasevic did not travel to Oregon this weekend because of her pregnancy.
With the loss, the Sun Devils are now 10-12 overall and 0-10 in Pac-12 play, following a 10-2 start in the non-conference portion of the schedule.
Arizona State returns home next weekend when the Sun Devils face the Bay Area schools. The Sun Devils take on Stanford Friday and California Sunday.
