After splitting their last tournament in Tucson, ASU soccer finish off their non-conference slate against the University of Hawaii and Weber State.

The Sun Devils, who went 1-1 in the University of Arizona Tournament last week, coming up short against Texas Tech 2-1 and beating Florida Gulf Coast 2-1, are looking for a chance to gain solid momentum before starting Pac-12 play.

More from Devils in Detail

ASU is looking continue their series record against the Rainbow Wahine, leading the series 2-0. However, Hawaii is coming into the desert with some momentum after winning against Idaho State 2-0. Junior goalkeeper Alexis Mata will be a challenge for a Sun Devils team who have been struggling to follow shots and get goals on the board.

Mata has had eight saves and recorded her first career shutout this season.

The Sun Devils offense will need to work on their ability to follow shots if they want to contest against the ‘Bows.

ASU will close out their nonconference season against Weber State on Sunday, looking to maintain the edge against the Wildcats as they are coming into the game, 2-1 in the series.

This will be the Wildcats’ third time facing a Pac-12 team this season, hosting No.20 Utah, where they fell 3-0 in the exhibition match. The Wildcats also faced No. 1 UCLA earlier in the month and fell 2-0 against the Bruins.

Weber State and ASU’s match up will be an interesting one, due to both teams’ inability to follow shots. The Wildcats have taken 52 shots this season with only 18 being on goal, while the Sun Devils are just slightly below their percentage with 75 shots and only 25 on goal.

The Sun Devils will need both wins this weekend in order to prepare for conference play.
