After finishing as one of the most improved teams in the nation, ASU women’s swimming says goodbye to the seniors and hello to the incoming recruiting class.
The recruiting process to becoming a student athlete is complex and competitive, especially as a swimmer.
The coaches are looking for well-rounded individuals, while the athletes are looking for schools that fit their athletic ability.
Overall the process is strenuous on both students and coaches; however, the end result is what becomes the most exciting.
The Arizona State women’s swim team had to say goodbye to five of their senior team members this past May.

Each female senior played a huge contribution to the ASU women’s swim team.
The team had to say farewell to teammates Kat Simonovic, Alysha Bush, Anna Olasz, Indira Ceranic, and Ingibjorg Jonsdottir.
Kat Simonovic, ASU Alumni, was a huge contribution to the women’s ASU swim team.
During her career at ASU she managed to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics representing Serbia.
Alongside Simonovic, Olasz qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympic games in the 10K open water swim finishing 14th overall.
This past season was a huge improvement for the ASU women’s swim team.
The women’s team was named the nation’s second most improved team for the 2016-2017 season, while also earning two Pac-12 champions and two Honorable Mention All-Americans.
July 1st of a student’s senior year is the opening date when coaches can contact athletes to begin the recruiting process.
Heading into the fall season, the ASU coaching staff has already started recruiting for the upcoming season.
So far, the ASU swim team has received nine verbal commits from fellow high school senior athletes.
Starting in August, these recruits will go down the same path that their fellow teammates paved for them.
