ASU Softball: Sun Devils Run-Ruled, Swept By Bruins
By Sam Ficarro
UCLA completed the sweep of ASU softball Saturday as the Bruins run-ruled the Sun Devils 12-3. Arizona State finishes the season 30-20 (9-15).
ASU softball was looking to get one last home win for the seniors Saturday versus UCLA.
Thursday’s game was a tight affair as Arizona State overcame a 3-0 deficit to tie the game at three before allowing the winning run in the seventh inning.
Friday was a rough go-around for the Sun Devils as UCLA slammed three home runs in 13-3 win.
Unfortunately for Arizona State, Saturday’s game went a lot like Friday’s game did as the Sun Devils were run-ruled 12-3 in five innings.
UCLA got off to quick start versus ASU starter Giselle Juarez as the Bruins led 4-0 after two innings.

Pitcher Rachel Garcia helped her own cause driving in the game’s first run with an RBI single in the first inning.
The Bruins then scored three runs in the second inning on an RBI single from shortstop Delaney Spaulding and RBI doubles from second baseman Kylee Perez and third baseman Briana Tautalafua.
Arizona State responded in the bottom of the second inning on a pair of solo home runs from right fielder Fa Leilua and first baseman Margaret Stahm.
UCLA broke the game open though with two big plays in the fourth and fifth innings.
In the fourth inning, a single by Tautalafua and a couple of fielding errors brought home three runs for UCLA to give the Bruins an 8-2 lead.
With the bases loaded in the fifth inning, Perez hit a grand slam to give UCLA a 12-2 lead.
Arizona State would get one run in the fifth on Stahm’s second home run of the game but UCLA did enough damage to end the game in five innings.
Juarez started and went only two innings allowing four earned runs on seven hits with Breanna Macha come on in relief.
Macha finished the game throwing three innings allowing eight runs (four earned) on eight hits with two walks and four strikeouts.
Garcia picked up her second win of the series for UCLA throwing a five-inning complete game on three earned runs on three hits along with a walk and three strikeouts.
