ASU baseball opened up a three-game series Friday at Oregon with the bats quiet all night as the Ducks defeated the Sun Devils 2-0.

After taking two of three games versus Cal State Bakersfield, ASU baseball resumed Pac-12 play in Eugene Friday versus Oregon.

The Ducks (23-13, 6-9) were looking to snap a five-game losing streak which included being swept at home last weekend versus Stanford.

Oregon ended the streak Friday with a 2-0 victory over Arizona State behind the performance of starter David Peterson.

More from Devils in Detail

Peterson shut down the ASU lineup throwing a complete game shutout allowing only 4 hits, walking one batter and striking out 20 Sun Devils on 123 pitches.

Behind Peterson’s career-night, Oregon was able to score a pair of runs in the fourth inning off ASU starting pitcher Eder Erives.

Right fielder Matthew Dyer hit a bunt RBI single to drive in the first run and then on a stolen base attempt, ASU committed a fielding error leading to the second run for Oregon.

Erives did not receive any support Friday in what was one of his best starts of the season throwing an eight-inning complete game allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits to go along with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.

The offense was not able to muster much versus Peterson as third baseman Taylor Lane led ASU with 2 hits with a single and a triple.

Center fielder Andrew Shaps hit Arizona State’s only other extra-base hit with a double and designated hitter Hunter Bishop picked up a single.
