After coming back from 6-0 down, ASU baseball squandered a 12-9 ninth inning lead falling to UNLV 13-12 snapping a four-game winning streak.

ASU baseball entered Tuesday night’s game with a lot of confidence after sweeping Washington State over the weekend.

The good-feelings blew away in Las Vegas as UNLV scored 4 runs in the ninth inning to defeat Arizona State 13-12.

In a see-saw game, the Sun Devils entered the bottom of the ninth inning with a 12-9 lead looking to complete a three-game sweep over the Rebels spanning the previous three weeks.

After ASU reliever Ryan Hingst allowed a walk and RBI double, pitcher Connor Higgins came in with a runner on second base with nobody out.

Higgins went on to struggle allowing 3 singles and intentionally walk 2 batters with UNLV second baseman Justin Jones delivering the decisive punch hitting a walk-off RBI single to right field.

Arizona State put themselves in a great position to win the game after trailing 6-0 after 3 innings.

The Sun Devils scored at least a run in every inning from the fourth inning with three Sun Devils driving in at least 2 runs and five players driving in 1 run.

Right fielder Gage Canning and left fielder Hunter Bishop led the Arizona State attack combining to bat 6-for-10 with 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored.

In total, seven Sun Devils recorded hits versus the Rebels pitching staff.

Arizona State started Alec Marsh, but his night was short-lived going only 2 innings allowing 5 earned runs on 9 hits.

Both teams sent six pitchers to the mound with the longest pitcher for ASU lasting 2 innings and the longest pitcher for UNLV was starter Paul Richy who lasted 4 innings allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits.
