ASU softball‘s offense picked up where it left off Thursday run-ruling Stanford for second straight game Friday to pick up the series victory.

After defeating Stanford 10-0 in 5 innings Thursday, ASU softball replicated their offensive success picking up a 9-1 victory in 5 innings Friday.

Just like they did Friday, Arizona State got to Stanford pitching early scoring a run in each of the first 3 innings before bursting out for a deciding 4-run 4th inning to put the game away.

Seven Sun Devils recorded a hit Friday versus Stanford pitchers Nikki Bauer and Kiana Pancino, with four Arizona State players recording multiple hits.

Second baseman Marisa Stankiewicz led ASU batting 3-of-3 with a walk, 2 runs scored and driving in the game’s first run with an RBI single in the 1st inning.

The home run power was on display again for the Sun Devils as left fielder Nichole Chilson hit a solo home run to dead center to give Arizona State a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning.

The big blow, however, came in the 4th inning as designated player Fa Leilua hit a grand slam to left field to deliver the decisive hit giving ASU an 8-1 lead.

The Sun Devils would go on to win the game 9-1 behind strong pitching from Giselle Juarez and Alyssa Loza.

Juarez started the game coming off her worst outing two weeks at Oregon, and pitched admirably going 3 innings allowing 1 earned run on 1 hit, 1 walk and 1 strikeout.

Loza came in to pitch in the 4th inning and threw 2 shutout innings allowing no hits, walking 1 Cardinal and striking out 3 Cardinal batters.
