ASU Baseball used a big seventh inning to get a comeback 5-4 win vs. UCLA.

The game was slow early with no scoring until the sixth inning, after the Bruins put up one run, ASU answered in the bottom half.

The run came in the form of freshman Lyle Lin’s first career Home Run to tie the game. Lin went 2-3 with 2 RBI Saturday in his 12th multi hit game of the season.

ASU entered the bottom half of the seventh down 4-2. They were able to put together three timely hits to take the lead in the bottom of the seventh.

More from Devils in Detail

Andrew Shaps, Lyle Lin, then Taylor Lane came up for the maroon and gold and one after another knocked in an RBI single to put the Devils up 5-4.

Along with Lin, Taylor Lane had a great game knocking in one on three hits.

The game would end with that score as ASU picked up just their second conference win of the year.

On the mound for the Arizona State Saturday was the freshman Chaz Montoya making just his second career start.

In his first outing at USC, Montoya was terrific, not allowing a run, Saturday he wasn’t as good, but he still put together a solid outing.

Montoya went 6.1 innings giving up three runs on seven hits in an outing Tracy Smith would take from any one of his starters.

It was a bit of a question if Montoya would still be the Saturday starter going forward, and for now it seems he has locked it up.

In the bullpen, Eder Erives didn’t give up a hit in 2 innings of work, and it seems that he may be the closer going forward after a few good outings recently.

Tomorrow, the Devils will look to win their first series since Long Beach State in the second week of March.

They will need to get an early lead tomorrow to take the pressure off their pitcher in a rubber match.
