ASU basketball women’s team’s strong shooting first half built a big enough lead to hold off the Michigan State Spartans 73-61.
The Sun Devils shot lights out from the field in the first half shooting 59 percent from the field with Arizona State draining multiple 3-pointers.
In total, Arizona State made 8 3-pointers in one of their best outings of the season from beyond the arc.
The team looked completely rested and locked in forcing 18 Michigan State turnovers and holding the Spartans to just 8 field goals in the first half.

Spartans guard Tori Jankoska led all scorers with 26 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists with 24 points coming in the second half.
Arizona State sported a balanced attack with nine Sun Devils scoring and three finishing in double-digits.
Center Quinn Dornstauder led ASU with 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting and 4-of-4 from the free throw line to go along with 4 rebounds.
Guards Reili Richardson and Sabrina Haines provided sparks from the perimeter.
Richardson finished with 13 points and 2-of-6 from 3 and Haines finished with 15 points and 3-of-4 from 3.
Michigan State’s main concern of facing the Sun Devils was their physicality and rebounding and the Sun Devils won in both of those area.
ASU outrebounded Michigan State 31-25 and played strong defense as the Sun Devils shut down the other players around Jankoska.
Next up for Arizona State will be the top-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday.
