ASU Softball: Sun Devils Still No. 21 in Latest Poll
The ASU softball team held their ranking at No. 21 in the latest USA Today/ NFCA Coaches poll.
ASU softball has been the No. 21 team in the nation since last week, before that point the Sun Devils were ranked as high as No. 20 in the nation.
For Arizona State, they have had chances to move up the rankings. They have five losses on the season, and four of them have come against ranked opponents. If the Sun Devils even would have just won one of those games, they could be a higher ranked team. They currently hold a 0-4 record against ranked opponents.
The Sun Devils will have their chance to earn a significant amount of victories over top-25 teams as they compete in one of the toughest conferences in the country, the Pac-12. This upcoming weekend they will face Washington who is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation. After that, they play four more series against teams currently ranked.

The conference season will be a difficult one for ASU, but that is exactly what they need. They have played enough games against teams that get run-ruled that it is time for the Sun Devils to have the chance to flex their muscles. If this team plays as well as they can, then they could and should be one of the top teams in the Pac-12 and the country.
Powerful hitting, a strong pitching rotation, and a deep lineup is what Arizona State has going for them. The offensive leader of the team, Chelsea Gonzales, was just named the Pac-12 player of the week. The ASU pitching rotation has a combined ERA of 1.22. The Sun Devils have a team average of .292, with only three players not having a hit despite having at least one at bat.
This ASU softball team is special, they have a nice mix of veteran and young presence and they have all the pieces in place to win when it matters. Right now they are sitting at No. 21, but in a few weeks they could be much higher.
