ASU Baseball continues their homestand with a weekend series against Loyola Marymount as Eli Lingos will take the mound in search of his third win of the season tonight.

ASU baseball starting pitcher Lingos who is 2-0 this season will make his third start and look to improve his already stellar ERA. He’s allowed just two earned runs in 12.2 innings pitched which gives him a 1.42 ERA.

In Lingos’ last start he threw six innings of 2-run baseball in which he struck out eight in the big upset over No. 1 TCU last Friday night.

Last time out for the Sun Devils they outslugged the No. 1 offense in the nation New Mexico State in a 12-5 win.

Freshman phenom Lyle Lin continued his incredible start to his college career picking up three more hits to bring his total to a Pac-12 leading 16 on the year.

Lin is expected to keep seeing plenty of playing time because of his bat and with the regular catcher, Sam Ferri, sidelined indefinitely due to injury it gives Tracy Smith a little more flexibility with the lineup.

More from Devils in Detail

Andrew Snow has been the reliable guy at the top of the lineup for the Devils as he leads the team with a .500 batting average after his 4-4 night on Tuesday against New Mexico State.

Snow who usually hits second in the lineup is also tied for the team lead in RBI with eight.

Starting fast will be important for ASU as they usually don’t get going until after the first three innings.

Of their 48 runs this season, ASU has only scored three in the first three.

Hitting with runners in scoring position is just as big of a deal for ASU as they don’t win unless they hit well with RISP. In the team’s five wins, ASU is 23-65 (.365) and just 5-28 (.179) in their three losses.

Tonight’s match-up pits two solid No. 1 pitchers and shapes out to be a pitcher’s duel as LMU will send senior Brenton Arriaga to face Lingos. Arriaga is 2-0 himself with nearly the exact same numbers as Lingos. He has 14 IP, 14 strikeouts, and a minuscule 0.67 ERA. Arriaga’s first start was one to remember as he dealt a 3-hit complete game shutout of No. 19 UC Santa Barbara on the way to a 1-0 victory.
