ASU Football: Sun Devils Well Represented in Pac-12 Honors

With the regular season over for the Pac-12, the coaches got together and voted on Pac-12 recognitions.

Pac-12 recognitions include Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Freshman Offensive Player of the Year, Freshman Defensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. While no Sun Devils were award with any of the above honors, six were selected for Pac-12 Recognition.

Zane Gonzalez was First Team All-Pac-12 Placekicker, an honor that was deserved after his great season to finish off a great collegiate career.

JoJo Wicker and Koron Crump were Second Team All-Pac-12. Both players will be returning to the program, with Wicker only being a sophomore and Crump being a junior. Both players were bright spots on a poor defense and they will be called upon to be leaders of the defense next season.

Matt Haack was Second Team All-Pac-12 as well. Haack had a very good season, but being in the same conference as Utah’s Mitch Wishnowsky might be one of the main reasons that he didn’t earn First Team All-Pac-12.

N’Keal Harry and Viliami “Laiu” Moeakiola were Pac-12 All-Conference Honorable Mentions. Harry had a sensational season for a freshman and, had Sam Darnold not led USC to a winning record this season, could very well be the Pac-12 Freshman Player of the Year. Moeakiola has finished his career as a Sun Devil. He will be remembered as one fo the most consistent players under Todd Graham and his work ethic was unmatched.

The selections for the All-Pac-12 were very diverse with no one class dominating the honors. The players selected from Arizona State were split three-to-three as to whether they were seniors or whether they would be returning to the program. With players like Harry, Wicker and Krump all returning for the Sun Devils, there is reason to believe that next season could be the season where ASU gets back to their winning ways that Todd Graham is used to.
