ASU Volleyball: ASU Gains Another Home Win

The Arizona State women’s volleyball team gained another home win tonight, defeating Colorado with a final match score of 3-1.

ASU started off the first set on a weaker note giving Colorado a four-point lead. The Sun Devils continued to stay down; however, junior middle blocker, Oluoma Okaro, managed to accumulate four kills during the first set.

Ivana Jeremic was just behind Okaro giving the Sun Devils three more kills. Ultimately, the Sun Devils were unable to close the gap against Colorado ending the first set with a final match score of 25-21.

The Sun Devils started to show their true colors during the second set by holding off Colorado by at least three points. Sophomore outside hitter, Lexi Maclean, gave ASU a huge advantage by giving the team five kills.

Okaro also gave the Sun Devils five kills giving the Sun Devils a win to the second set with a match score of 25-16.

The women’s volleyball team continued to play smart during the third set against Colorado. Jeremic was on fire during throughout this set bringing the Sun Devils seven kills. Mclean was right behind Jeremic with four kills for the Sun Devils.

Both ASU and Colorado were neck and neck during the middle of the third set, but ASU gained the win with a final match score of 26-24.

The fourth a final set of the night was the strongest for the Sun Devils. All throughout the set, ASU held a seven-point lead against Colorado. Jeremic continued to show great strength by gaining six more kills.

This was a strong match for Okaro as well as she gave the Sun Devil seven more kills to end the set with a final set score of 25-18.

As the Conference season ends on Saturday, this was a great home win for the Sun Devils. Arizona State finishes off their season this Saturday against rival school the University of Arizona.
