The Arizona State women’s volleyball team had a tough loss against the University of Southern California last night with a final match score of 0-3. Now that the Sun Devils are 2-10 in conference season, ASU will need to keep all of their focus on the ball in order to gain a win over UCLA tonight.

ASU fell to UCLA earlier in October with a final match score of 3-0, and the Bruins are now 9-4 in conference season.

Over the course of this year’s season, the Sun Devils have struggled with keeping their errors low. This match between the Sun Devils and the Bruins will be challenging since the Bruins have a lower error percentage.

In total, the Bruins have had 425 errors and an average of .8 errors per set. The Sun Devils have a total of 564 errors and an average of 1.0 errors per set.

Since UCLA has a slightly lower error percentage than the Sun Devils, ASU will need to keep their focus on getting serves over the net and not allowing UCLA to gain points off of their errors.

Another challenge that ASU will face tonight will be the kills from UCLA. UCLA has had 1262 kills over the course of this year’s season whereas ASU has 1164. This leaves UCLA with an average of 14.5 kills per set and ASU with an average of 12.3 kills per set.

More from Devils in Detail

Junior middle blocker, Oluoma Okaro, and senior outside hitter, Cassidy Pickrell will have some strong competitors in tonight’s match. So far Okaro has managed to hold an average of 2.67 kills per set and Pickrell has an average of 2.63 kills per set.

Tonight both Pickrell and Okaro will need to keep their eyes on outside hitters Jordan Anderson and Riley Buechler. Anderson has managed to maintain an average of 3.32 kills per set and Buechler has held 3.14 kills per set.

Tonight’s match will be on ASU’s home court in Tempe, AZ and is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. The match will be live on Pac-12 Arizona.
