This is a new low-point in the season for the Arizona State Women’s soccer team.

The Sun Devils have extended their losing streak to three games after falling to an Oregon State team that was winless in conference play.

For the most part, the game was pretty quiet. ASU had another quiet first half, a trend that’s turning into a bad habit.

In the first 45 minutes, they had four shots with none of them on goal. The only two shots that were on goal were by the Beavers and both were saved by junior goalkeeper Megan Delaney.

The stalemate wouldn’t break until the 80th minute. Beavers’ Senior defender Helene Haavik received a pass from junior forward Nicki Faris for the goal. Things would only get worse for Arizona State when the Norwegian defender netted another one in the back of the net in 84th minute to increase the deficit to 2-0.

More from Devils in Detail

Key players like Aly Moon, Jazmarie Mader, and Lucy Lara once again did not play as they’re all dealing with injuries. Natalie Stephens scoreless streak continues as she has failed to score a goal this entire season.

The Devils now fall to 6-7-2 on the season with a disappointing 1-5-1 record in Pac-12 play and things won’t be getting much easier.

With four games left in the regular season, Arizona State has to face Oregon, Cal, Stanford and Arizona. Oregon has had a similar season to their in-state rivals. They are 1-6-0 in Pac-12 play and they have one of the worse offenses in the conference. This will be a must win for ASU.

Cal and Stanford will be ASU’s toughest back-to-back games of the season. Both Northern California schools are in the top five in the Pac-12 in goals scored and goals allowed. Losing to both teams will likely end the Devils’ season.

And finally to cap off the regular season, Arizona State will be playing the team down south. The Wildcats have had a similar season as ASU. They recently lost to a winless Oregon team and now have a 1-5-0 record in the Pac-12. No matter what ASU’s record will be then, it is certainly a must win.
