ASU Hockey: Sun Devils-Falcons Preview
The Arizona State Men’s Ice Hockey team has begun their first full NCAA Division-I season. The Sun Devils are 0-2-0 on the year so far.
This weekend, the Sun Devils will be taking on the No. 18 Air Force Falcons in a two-game series on Friday, Oct. 14, and Sunday, Oct. 16. Both games are to be played at Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona, home of the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes.
Air Force is 1-0-1 so far this season. They played Boston College and Ohio State in the IceBreaker Tournament in Denver, Colorado, last weekend.
The Falcons were previously unranked before the start of the season. After a 2-1 upset win over then-No. 5 Boston College and a 3-3 tie against No. 19 Ohio State, Air Force has climbed up to No. 18 in the national rankings.
Arizona State struggled last weekend against Notre Dame, committing 43 penalties. They were outscored 13-4 in the two-game series.

The Sun Devils will try to bounce back at home after getting situated into NCAA Division-I play. Freshman Tyler Busch, ASU leading goal-scorer, looks to continue his streak after netting a goal in each of the first two games against the Irish.
Red shirt junior Wade Murphy also has two points after earning an assist in both of the first two games.
Forward Robbie Baillargeon, a graduate transfer from Boston University, will be on the ice for the first time as a Sun Devil this year after missing the first two games.
Head coach Greg Powers has yet to announce the starting goaltender for the first game against the Falcons. Senior Robert Levin and freshman Joey Daccord both received starts against Notre Dame. The starter most likely won’t be known until during warm-ups before the game.
