The Grill on Mill, located on Mill Avenue and 3rd Street, was the venue for the second official watch party of the Arizona State football season.

The restaurant, which is filled with TV’s and has audio from the broadcast booming over the chatting customers, is looking to become the place to be for Sun Devil fans on game days when the team plays out-of-town.

After a big turnout during the UTSA game, the owners were expecting a similar, if not bigger, turnout for the game against the USC Trojans.

Unfortunately, Saturday night was just one of those nights where there was not a big turnout.

As the game started, fans started to trickle in; by the 2nd quarter, 3/4 of the available seats at the bar were taken. Various conversations were being held, and it started to become so loud that at times it was hard to hear the person next to you.

But the crowd did not last long, at halftime the score was 27-6 in favor of the Trojans and half the fans had already left The Grill.

A loyal few, however, remained. Francisco Revueltas, an 1988 alumni of Arizona State, said he’d had low expectations for the team until they turned it around in the first game of the season.

“I think this loss will be good for them,” he said. “Hopefully, they can learn from it and keep up the good work!”

By the time USC brought the score up to 41-6 in the 3rd, only 5 parties were left in the vicinity as most had left and took with them dreams of  ASU becoming 5-0 on the season. However, the overall consensus among those who were strong enough to face the hard loss was excitement rather than disappointment.
