From the moment N’Keal Harry announced that he would be attending Arizona State, Todd Graham and Sun Devil fans everywhere knew they had just gotten a big time playmaker and one of the top players in the country.

Harry was part of an ASU recruiting class that also included the #3 player in the state, and Harry’s teammate at Chandler High School, Chase Lucas.

As N’Keal Harry finished out his time at Chandler, he was a Division 1 state champion, Under Armour All American, and the #1 wide receiver in the country. Harry signing with the Devils was huge for Todd Graham as he tries to put a barricade around the state, by not let the top players go anywhere other than Tempe; Harry was the first top recruit in Arizona to committo ASU since 2008.

After the first three games, he is everything and more than what fans and coaches had expected; currently Harry is on of Wilkins’ top targets.

He has shown the ability to create his own space and get big yards after the catch, and most importantly, Harry has shown the ability to be a mismatch and either catch anything in his vicinity or get a defensive pass interference call.

Coming into the season, many believed redshirt junior Tim White was going to be the Sun Devils number one option at receiver; but Harry as a true freshman has taken over that role and formed a great combination with quarterback Manny Wilkins.

More from Devils in Detail

Harry’s skillset is drawing eyes to him, as Pro Football Focus called him their “top-graded receiver in the country so far”, he’s electrifying, and last week at UTSA, Harry may have had one of the best catches of the year.

As he got past UTSA cornerback Teddrick McGhee, and with McGhee holding on to one of his hands, Harry caught the ball against his body with the other. The catch was crucial as it brought the Devils within two points with only three seconds left in the half. Not one of those plays that a true freshman usually makes at such a crucial point.

Harry is simply a difference maker for a young Sun Devil team who is trying to compete in a deep Pac-12, the good thing for ASU fans is that he’s only a freshman, and seem

Some would compare him to ASU alum and now Houston Texans wide receiver, Jaelen Strong. They are both 6-4 and right around 210-220 pounds; their style is very

similar as both of them can go up and get the ball no matter who’s covering them. Hopefully, Harry and ASU can replicate the success the Strong had in Tempe. In Strong’s two years in Tempe, ASU won the Pac-12 south and at one point was ranked #6 in the country.

Harry’s stock can rise even more if the Sun Devils are playing meaningful, nationally televised games late in the season; and if things go his way, N’Keal Harry will be a household name around draft day three or four years down the road.
