The Arizona State women’s volleyball team has come to be known as the “road warriors” as this season has begun, and the long road trip is finally reaching its last stop.

The Sun Devils are coming off of a tough loss to the rival Arizona Wildcats on Wednesday in four sets. The 9-4 Wildcats were led throughout the match by freshman outside hitter Kendra Dahlke who recorded 22 kills.

For the Sun Devils, Cassidy Pickrell once again was a big part of the attack recording 20 kills, and senior Oluoma Okaro set a new career-high with 10 blocks in the match.

Now the Sun Devils head to Salt Lake City, Utah to take on a strong Utah team. The Utes have a couple impressive wins so far this season including against in-state rival No. 9 BYU in Provo, and a win against the No. 16 Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder.

More from Devils in Detail

This could be a tough matchup for the Sun Devils against a Utah team that has had a lot of success early on in the season as their 10-2 record shows.

One of the main reasons for the Utes’ early success has been sophomore Adora Anae; the outside hitter leads her team in kills at 221. Defensively Anae also leads her team in digs at 160.

Her 221 kills are 90 more than the next player on her team

If the Sun Devils are to have success in this matchup, they will have to do their best to contain Anae’s production.

Another important reason for the Utes success on the court has to be attributed to head coach Beth Launiere.

In 27 seasons at the helm, Launiere has complied more than 500 victories throughout her historic career with Utah.
