The preseason Amway Coaches Poll was released earlier today and ASU was not one of the schools named to the top-25. Which begs the question, could ASU be in the top-25 at all this season?

Last season the ASU football program was ranked 16 in the preseason poll and fans were ecstatic. This season however, the Sun Devils will go into the season unranked and will be looking to make their way into the top-25. But is there a chance they could get into the top-25 based on their schedule?

The easy answer is of course! As long as they win games where they face actual opponents then they will make their way into the top-25 eventually. But when you look closer at their schedule, unfortunately, the picture becomes a little more bleak.

Based on how I think the Sun Devils are going to do this year, which will see them losing to USC, UCLA, and Oregon, they only have one real chance to make the top-25 poll.

More from Devils in Detail

That opportunity for them comes after they play their final out of conference game against UTSA. If they are still undefeated after this game, which means they will be 3-0, then we might see them in the top-25.

The biggest factor into whether they get into the top-25 based on their non-conference schedule will be how they do against Texas Tech.

Although Texas Tech isn’t in the top-25 to begin the season, they are a strong opponent. If ASU shows up to that game and can showcase their talents, they will be in the mind of the coaches panel.

Follow that win up with another victory to begin the season 3-0? The panel might come to a decision that ASU is a top-25 team.

The football season is getting closer to kick-off by the day. Make sure that you stick with Devils in Detail for all your ASU Football coverage all season long!
