ASU coach Graham: ‘I know what my commitment is’

courtesy of: Arizona Sports 98.7 FM

“Each time a head coaching job opens up in Todd Graham’s home state of Texas, his name seems to come up as a possible replacement. Graham, who was born in Mesquite, Texas, coached at Allen High School from 1995-2000 and Rice University in 2006. In fact, following the Art Briles scandal at Baylor, Graham’s name was connected to the gig. Graham spoke with Bickley and Marotta on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM Tuesday and was asked about his name continuously being connected to football jobs in Texas.”

This is something that has always created media speculation. Will Todd Graham leave ASU for another job? It always comes up when a job in Texas or the deep south opens up. Well Graham officially commented on the speculation that always surrounds him in an interview on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.

Bobby Hurley’s recruiting efforts paying early dividends at ASU

courtesy of: Today’s U Sports

“Arizona State men’s basketball fans have heard grand proclamations before. They heard talk of deep NCAA Tournament runs when Bill Frieder took over the program in 1990 after nine seasons coaching at Michigan. They heard talk of incomparable work ethic when Rob Evans came aboard from Mississippi in 1999. They heard talk of precise execution when Herb Sendek came aboard in 2007 from North Carolina State. You could forgive Sun Devil Nation a hint of skepticism then when Bobby Hurley took over the program last season, even if Hurley’s former Duke teammate Grant Hill saw something different in this hire.”

An article that gives a nice overview of Hurley’s recruiting progress since he took over at ASU. It gives ASU fans the satisfaction of knowing that they aren’t the only ones noticing what coach Hurley is doing on the recruiting trail. Big things are in the works for ASU Basketball, and it is because of coach Hurley’s recruiting.

Sun Devil Gymnastics adds Buckner to coaching staff

More from Devils in Detail

“Arizona State gymnastics head coach Jay Santos has added Stephen Buckner to the coaching staff as an assistant coach, it was announced on Tuesday. Buckner comes to Tempe from Seattle, where he spent this past season as an assistant at the University of Washington. There, he coached vault and floor, helping the Huskies to a third-place finish at the 2016 Salt Lake City Regional. He also had a hand in coaching Washington’s first individual NCAA Qualifier since 2013, all-arounder Allison Northey.”

Very exciting hire for ASU Gymnastics. Buckner probably could have landed a head coaching job at a school if he actively searched for it, but instead decided to become an assistant at ASU. He brings a great knowledge for vaulting and he will bolster head coach Santos’ coaching staff with championship-level coaching.
