In a must-win game for the Sun Devils, ASU Baseball kept their College World Series hopes alive with a 4-1 victory over Oral Roberts.

After a disappointing outing from Seth Martinez in their first game of the Fort Worth Regional, ASU went with Jordan Aboites on the mound for the second game.

He didn’t disappoint.

Aboites pitched a compete game and gave up just one earned run while allowing 11 hits.

Aboites also struck out seven and walked one in his 117 pitches thrown.

This was exactly what ASU needed, a good solid outing from their starting pitcher after yesterday’s lackluster performance from Martinez.

On the other side of the ball, ASU was able to make good contact with the ball throughout the game as they scored four runs off of nine hits.

Andrew Snow continued his hot streak from yesterday. He batted .500 on the day along with an RBI single.

David Greer got back to his hitting ways as he also went 2-4 with one run on the day.

This game was a good confidence booster for the Sun Devils.

Faced with a win or go home situation ASU flourished and they were able to instill hope and confidence in the team moving forward. They will have to win three more do-or-die games in order to advance to the Super Regionals.

With more strong performances from players like Greer and Snow, and if Martinez can shake off his bad start and regain his normal ball control then ASU will be a scary team going forward.

Next Arizona State will face the loser between TCU and Gonzaga. If they win that game, then they will face the winner of the TCU-Gonzaga matchup in two straight games. They will have to win both of those games in order to advance, a task that seems impossible but with the right mind-set, ASU can do it.
