ASU Softball: Weekend Recap and Thoughts
The ASU Softball team got back on track this past weekend with their sweep of Stanford.
ASU Softball snapped their 12-game losing streak after demolishing Stanford by an average of 5 runs per game this past weekend. ASU won the game on Friday 9-1, the game on Saturday 6-5, and the game on Sunday 10-4
Quick Reaction:
This past weekend, ASU was able to show the home crowd what they should have been doing all season, dominating teams. A lack of production from all but one of their pitchers led to the 12-game losing streak and ultimately the loss of this season. The two co-managers of this team will face the noise after this season is over, and they need the lady Sun Devils to keep up this production for the last series of the year if they want to keep their current jobs. Overall, this series was a bitter-sweet one for fans as now all anyone can think about is what might have been.

Player to watch:
Katee Aguirre had an outstanding series as she was a focal point for the offense. She was responsible for 7 of ASU’s 25 runs over the weekend and had 5 hits in 10 at bats. Aguirre began the season off hot but then cooled down during April. Fans were delighted to see Aguirre heat back up as she was a reason for their winning ways during the beginning of the season.
Final Thoughts:
Unfortunately, it is a little too late for the ASU Softball team to gain any momentum from this series sweep. With only one series remaining there is no way for them to do something in the Pac-12. This season will end the way it started, full of promise. But eventually ASU will need to evaluate where this program is at and decide what the best course of action is. Most of the time in these situations, whoever is in the managerial position gets canned, but this may be a bigger situation than just a problem in the manager spot. This team had too many good moments for them not to be a part of the post-season.
