ASU Football unveils new Desert Hammer uniforms

The Arizona State Sun Devils did a spectacular job of helping fans to forget, or at least stifle feelings, about the weekend loss to the USC Trojans, turning around and introducing some new uniforms to add to the mix that Adidas has introduced since taking over during the summer.

After rolling out the Desert Ice uniforms, in which the team went copper and white, against Texas A&M, there were whispers that we could get a black or gray version of the look. That is absolutely the case, as ASU football took the opportunity on Sunday to unveil the Desert Hammer look.

An exact contrast to the Desert Ice uniforms, the new look features a dark gray matte helmet, with a gray jersey and pants to match. The big pitchfork is still featured on the pants, with an oversized one going on the helmet. That latter detail has become a very common look for the Devils, who seem to have adopted that look as a primary one, going with the oversized logo on one side of the helmet and the player number on the other.

Additionally, the new uniform look will feature some new gear under the jersey, with a “Be the Hammer” shirt, which has a photo representation of the hammer that the Sun Devil players use to smash a rock in the locker room following a win:

All of this culminates in the important detail that the Desert Hammer elements can be intermixed with the Desert Ice uniforms. Which brings us to the uniform combination that the Devils will feature this week against UCLA:

What do you think of the new look? Good? Sharp? Or should the Devils quite messing around and stick to the classic colors?
