ASU Basketball: Women Top the Ducks

facebooktwitterreddit

Yesterday, the # 13 ASU Women’s basketball team beat the Oregon Ducks 70-58.  It’s the 14th consecutive win for ASU, their best streak since 2009.  The Sun Devils actually trailed Oregon by two at halftime, but opened the second half with a 10-0 run and eventually extended their lead to 20 before winning by 12 points.

The Ducks fought back to make it a ten point game late in the second half, but Sophie Brunner scored five straight points to put the game away.  ASU was led by Katie Hempen with 11 points.  Promise Amakamura added 10.

The win sets up a big showdown on Sunday with the # 7 Oregon State Beavers.  The Beavers are the only other undefeated team in the PAC-12 and share first place with the Sun Devils.  (Oregon State beat U of A yesterday)  The winner of that game will be alone atop the standings in the conference and will get a top-10 national ranking.

That game will be played tomorrow at 2 pm at Wells Fargo Arena.  The game will be televised on the PAC-12 network.
