ASU Football: Class of 2014 Local Prospects – Part 8

As was mentioned with #2 local prospect Casey Tucker, Arizona State currently has two seniors starting on its offensive line and a very talented junior. Additionally, Coach Graham’s first two recruiting classes only recruited three high school offensive lineman overall (Evan Goodman and Stephon McCray in 2012 and Jack Powers in 2013). In order to have a high octane offense, ASU needs big framed offensive linemen with talent.

#8 Andrew Mike, OT, Tucson Sabino

Andrew Mike, a 6’7” 280 lbs high school offensive tackle out of Tucson Sabino, has a great future in Division 1 football. Mike has the ideal frame to play tackle or guard with his height and long arms. From the highlights videos, Mike moves his large frame well in both running and passing situations. At the next level, Mike needs to work on adding muscle and weight to that terrific frame.

The Andrew Mike list of accolades includes the following:

  • 4 star, #13 overall position ranking
  • 3 star, #34 overall OT ranking
  • 3 star
  • 4 star
  • 2012 All-Arizona 1st Team from

Currently, Mike has reported offers from Arizona State, Arizona, California, Oregon State, USC, Utah, Washington, Vanderbilt, and several other major colleges. Recently, Andrew Mike announced that his final five schools include ASU, UofA, Vanderbilt, Washington, and Stanford, even though Stanford has not officially offered. If Stanford does make an official offer, expect Mike to commit to the Cardinal even though ASU has made a great impression.

Offensive coordinator Mike Norvell and offensive line coach Chris Thomsen continually need to bring in offensive lineman with potential as a dominant offensive line is needed in an offense determined to run the ball. Also, Coach Long and Coach Thomsen would love to sign a football prospect with star potential out of their rival university’s backyard.
