We've reached the final ten days of our football countdown. Fans can practically smell the tailgates for the season opener against Northern Arizona at this point.
Yesterday, we brought you the story of legendary Sun Devil quarterback Danny White. You can read more about his era at Arizona State here.
Today, we're jumping all the way to the present (and perhaps even the future) with a look at current QB Sam Leavitt. The 20-year-old passer from Oregon originally committed to Michigan State as a four-star recruit and red shirted his freshman year in 2023. He then transferred to Tempe as one of head coach Kenny Dillingham's biggest acquisitions and quickly earned the starting job in 2024.
You can't call yourself a Sun Devil fan if you're not familiar with Leavitt's accomplishments last year. He threw for 2,885 yards and 24 touchdowns (five rushing) in 13 games, leading the team to its first conference championship title and New Year's Six Bowl appearance since 1996,

Sam Leavitt could take ASU to the promised land
The sky quite literally is the ceiling for Leavitt and the Sun Devils this year despite losing running back Cam Skattebo to the NFL this past offseason. There's a real possibility ASU could repeat as Big 12 champions and make another run at the College Football Playoff National Championship.
Leavitt will be getting his favorite target in wide receiver Jordyn Tyson back this year after the 21 year old went down with a collarbone injury during the regular season finale against Arizona last season. Tyson caught 75 balls for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns, making the pair one of the best in the sport.
If both stay fully healthy, there's no telling what damage ASU could do during the 2025-26 season. Both could be first round-caliber draft picks next year if they build upon last season's production. Leavitt's story is only just getting started and that should be the most exciting thing Sun Devil fans hear all summer.
