No. 23 ASU softball seek to win consecutive Pac-12 series for the first time this season Sunday versus the 10th-ranked Utah Utes.

ASU softball will look to bounce back from Saturday’s heartbreaking loss Sunday versus Utah.

The Utes, after squandering a 2-run first inning lead, rallied to score 4 runs in the seventh inning to defeat Arizona State 7-6.

Both games have come down to the final inning with the Sun Devils scoring 4 runs of their own in the seventh inning Friday including a walk-off home run by designated player Emma Ramelot to down the Utes 9-8.

With both pitching staffs sporting strong ERAs, it’s the hitting that has dominated this series with the teams combining for 30 runs over the two games.

Ramelot leads the Sun Devils batting 4-of-8 with 4 RBIs while third baseman Taylor Becerra, center fielder Skylar McCarty and shortstop Chelsea Gonzales have tallied 3 hits in this series.

Pitcher Dale Ryndak will likely get the start for Arizona State after pitching in relief and picking up the win Friday throwing 4 innings allowing 4 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits with 2 walks and 1 strikeout.

For Utah, Miranda Viramontes will likely pick up the start after picking up the loss Friday throwing a complete game allowing 9 runs (4 earned) on 10 hits along with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts.

Viramontes did pitch in two games during last week’s series versus Arizona making it likely that she’ll pitch again on Sunday especially with the series win on the line.
