Arizona State scored 4 runs in the fifth inning on RBI singles from designated hitter Tyler Williams and third baseman Jeremy McCuin followed by a 2-run home run from the reigning Pac-12 Hitter of the Week Gage Canning proving to be the decisive blow for CSUB.

Reliever Connor Higgins threw 1.1 innings in relief allowing only 1 hit securing his third save of the season.

While head coach Tracy Smith has yet to announce who is starting Sunday, Cal State Bakersfield has listed Aaron Charles as their probable starter for Sunday’s game.

Charles is slated to make his third start of the season sporting a 1-1 record and a 4.09 ERA with his last start coming last Saturday versus Utah Valley.

The freshman picked up a no decision lasting 4 innings allowing 4 earned runs on 5 hits along with 2 walks and 1 strikeout.

The Sun Devils should be able to keep their offense going as Charles has an opponents batting average of .273 and has shown to have some control issues throwing three wild pitches in his last start.
