Arizona State women’s basketball is set to take on first-place Oregon State on Friday. The No. 11 Beavers are currently on a five game win-streak while the No. 23 Devils have lost their last three games.

ASU is going into the game with a 14-7 overall record and a 5-5 in conference record. OSU, however, has a 20-2 overall and 9-1 conference record. The Beavers are tied with Stanford for first place in the Pac-12. Arizona State stands at fifth place just behind UCLA and Washington.

Oregon State’s only conference loss was delivered by UCLA, who also handed ASU a loss.

More from Devils in Detail

As a team, Arizona State is holding opponents to 40.9 percent shooting while shooting 42 percent themselves. The Beavers are shooting 44.8 percent from the field while holding their opponents to only 33.5 percent. Additionally, they have posted a better shooting percentage than their opponents in every game that they’ve played this season.

ASU is led by senior Sophie Brunner this season. Brunner has been solid for the Devils since getting over her slow start. She is averaging 13.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, freshman Reili Richardson has seemed to enter a funk. In the past three games, she has only scored 10 points.

OSU is led by senior Sydney Wiese who is averaging 15.4 points per game and is sinking 49.2 percent (64-130) of her shots from three.

The Sun Devils have been struggling to box-out opponents and close games lately. If they can strengthen their defense and stay energetic in the second half – and most importantly, the fourth quarter – they should be able to compete against the Beavers’ strong offense.
