The Arizona State women’s volleyball team ended their long road season with a three set loss to the No. 11 Washington Huskies. The “road warriors” incredible season long road trips have finally reached its end, and the team will conclude a trying campaign with four games at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Sun Devils struggled in coach Mussie’s return as a head coach to the school where she won a National Championship as a player. Mussie looks to build her program into a powerhouse as she admits her and her staff aren’t used to losing.

The star of the afternoon for the Huskies was junior outside hitter Tia Scambray, who dominated offensively getting 20 kills and an incredible .567 hit percentage. Scambray hasn’t done too much for Washington this season, but had a great season a year ago as a member of the 2015 All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention team.

More from Devils in Detail

Washington had an overall great offensive performance and dominated a Sun Devil team that wasn’t able to matchup with them. The Huskies managed a team hit percentage of .350 and had eight more kills than ASU. The Huskies took care of business this weekend against both Arizona schools, and now look to take over first place in the Pac-12 when they meet UCLA in less than two weeks.

For Arizona State, freshman Ivana Jeremic had a very productive game, leading the team with 12 kills and .417 hit percentage. Jeremic has taken tremendous strides this season as a foreign freshman adjusting to the college game and the American lifestyle.

The Sun Devils will now turn their attention to next weekend’s matchups with the Bay Area schools. The Sun Devils won their first matchup with California in October, but fell to Stanford. This weekend will be important as the Sun Devils still seek their first home win of the season.

ASU plays Stanford at Wells Fargo Arena on Friday evening at 5:30 p.m., and can be seen on Pac-12 Arizona.
