After earning their first in-conference victory in a match against California, ASU Volleyball is now 1-6 in conference play.

With half of the season almost complete, the ASU women’s volleyball team will take on Stanford University on Saturday.

The Sun Devils match against Cal was just the boost the women’s volleyball team needed to prep them for their tough matchup against Stanford. The Sun Devils will need to keep their plays consistent and clean during the match in order to give themselves a chance against Stanford.

Currently 4-2 in the conference season, Stanford has a significantly lower error percentage than the ASU Sun Devils.

Errors have been one of the biggest struggles for the Arizona State women’s volleyball team this season. Over the course of this year, the majority of mistakes for the Sun Devils have been serving errors.

More from Devils in Detail

So far, the Sun Devils have a total of 153 serving errors, where as Stanford has significantly lower total of 73.

Even though the Sun Devils have a higher count of serving errors, both Stanford and ASU are very close with their averages of kills per set.

The Sun Devils hold an average of 12.3 kills per set and a total number of 876 kills on the season. Stanford holds a record of 13.7 kills per set with a total of 796 kills on their season.

A key aspect for the Sun Devils is to communicate thoroughly on the court and to always keep their eyes on the ball. The power sisters, Cassidy and Kylie Pickrell, sophomore Jasmine Koonts, and junior middle blocker, Oluoma Okaro, play a huge role in ASU’s on court communication.

Both Koonts, Okaro, and Pickrell need to have direct and strong communication with Kylie in order to rack up the kills against the Cardinals.

This will be a close match for the ASU Sun Devils. The match begin’s tonight at 7 p.m.
