After a hot start and a quick bump in the road, ASU women’s soccer is looking to extend their winning streak against Cal State Fullerton.

The Lady Devils started off the season pretty smoothly going 1-0-1 in their first two games on the east coast against Boston University and Boston College. There was no slowing down once they returned home to the valley of the sun, shutting out Loyola Chicago 4-0.

After losing back to back games against Denver University and University of San Francisco, ASU responded with a 3-0 victory over Northern Illinois.

Now Arizona State will take on a 3-4 Lady Titans team. Cal State is 0-2 on the road so far this year.

Fullerton is coming off a lost against Oregon in the Fullerton tournament.

A key player to watch on Cal State is junior midfielder Tala Haddad. The Bakersfield, California native leads the team in goals and assist with two a piece. Sophomore forward Nano Oronoz has also performed well so far this season for the Titans with one goal and one assist.

Lead by sophomores Amanda Larsson and Lindsay Stasinis, the Titan’s defense has improved since the start of September. In their first 3 games of the season, Cal State conceded 5 goals. In the month of September, Fullerton has only conceded 2 goals in the past 4 games.

More from Devils in Detail

Junior forward Jazmarie Mader has stepped up recently for ASU. The Chandler native has scored 3 of ASU’s last 5 goals. Even though Fullerton’s defense has been strong as of late, expect Mader to make an impact in this match.

Expect freshman goalkeeper Emma Malsy to continue to start in-goal over junior Megan Delaney for the Lady Devils. She has started the last 2 games for ASU only giving up one goal. Overall, Malsy has conceded 3 goals this season while Delaney has conceded 4 goals in 5 games this year.

If ASU wins, their momentum will be carrying them going into conference play. With a tough matchup against UCLA to begin in-conference play, it is important for the Lady Devils to get the win against the Titans.
