Although slowed by an injury during the preseason, Florence hopes to contribute to a stout Sun Devil linebacker corps during the 2013 campaign. He is making progress on a day-by-day basis at ASU practices.

Florence chose coach Todd Graham’s Sun Devils over Western Kentucky, and was also recruited by Alabama and Auburn.

On DevilsDigest.com, Florence had commented, “Talking to my Mom and other people, I just knew that Arizona State has everything I’m looking for. I liked the recruiting process with them and I really had no reason not to choose them. I love the family atmosphere, they have a great campus, and a great coaching staff that can help me take my game to the next level. I know that they can make me successful on and off the field.”

Florence was named the 2012 Bay Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year after posting 91 tackles and 6.0 sacks as a sophomore. He amassed 30 tackles, including 7.0 tackles-for-loss with 1.0 sack and one interception as a freshman in 2011, receiving All-Bay Valley Conference honors.

Florence has earned a reputation as a physical defender with the ability to play multiple linebacker positions. He has great football instincts, combined with excellent size and speed (4.6 40-yard dash).
